NCAAB Moneyline
How Do Moneyline Odds Work?
Moneyline odds should simply be seen as betting on a team to win the game. Moneyline betting works by placing a wager on a team, and if they win the game you will win your bet.
How to Read Moneyline Odds (NCAAB)
To read moneyline odds, the most important thing is to establish which team is the favorite. The favorite is the team that is expected to win and is indicated by a minus sign (-) and the underdog is the team that is expected to lose and is indicated by a plus sign (+). Most sportsbooks include overtime in their moneyline markets so you still win the bet if your team wins in OT.
In rare situations, it’s possible that both teams will have a minus sign (-) but this does not mean both teams are favorites. In this situation, the team with the odds closest to -100 is the favorite.
The minus sign (-) means you need to wager this amount to profit by $100. For example, if the odds were -150, you would need to place a wager of $150 to receive a $100 profit. The total return would be $250 ($150 stake returned + $100 profit)
The + sign means this is the amount you’ll receive as a profit if you wager $100. For example, if the odds are +150 and you wager $100, you’ll receive a total return of $250. ($100 stake + $150 profit).
College Basketball Point Spreads
What Does Spread Mean in Betting?
Spread betting places a handicap on the favorite team in a game in an attempt to create a level playing field for bettors. The size of the handicap is the number of points that the sportsbook expects the favorite to win the game by.
What Does the + and – Mean in Sports Betting Spread?
The + symbol in spread betting represents the favorite and the – symbol denotes the underdog. This is the opposite of how these symbols are used in moneyline betting.
How Does Spread Betting Work?
Spread Betting works by applying the spread total as a handicap to the two teams. For example, if the spread is set at 2.5 points, you are betting on the outcome of the game with the underdogs given a 2.5-point boost.
With a 2.5-point spread, if you bet on the underdog then you will win the bet if the underdog wins the game OR if they win by two points or fewer. If you bet on the favorite, then you will only win the bet if they win the game AND win it by 3 points or more.
What are the Betting Odds on NCAAB Spreads?
The odds on a spread bet are usually -110 on both sides as the handicap is designed to level the playing field, but it can occasionally vary slightly depending on the sportsbook.
College Basketball Over/Under Betting
What Does Over/Under Mean in Betting?
Over/Under betting is where the bettor places a wager on a total being higher or lower than a line predetermined by the sportsbook. The most common type is known as “totals” betting, and it’s where the bettor places a wager on the total amount of points in a game.
How Does Over/Under Betting Work?
Over/Under betting works by placing a wager on the number of points in a game. The sportsbook sets a line of the number of points they expect to be scored, and you can bet on there being more or less than that number. The odds for both selections are usually the same as the line is designed to create a level playing field.
