Walmart Map – Walmart Locator (2024)

  • The Walmart at 725 Gold St, Manchester, NH 03103 DOES NOT allow overnight parking, or parking anytime other than employees and customers. They do not allow RV’s, cars or tractor trailers to park in their lot at any time unless they are working or shopping.

  • The Timberville, VA Walmart (#6952) shows on the map as allowing overnight parking but when I called, the customer service person said they don’t allow it. I’m not sure she really understood what I was asking… I had to explain what an “RV” is… and maybe she said “no” because that’s the most effortless answer to give.

All of the other Walmarts near I-81 between Martinsburg, WV and Woodstock, VA, that show on the map as allowing, did confirm that they do allow it.

Also ALL of the Cracker Barrels near I-81 between Hagerstown, MD and Staunton, VA, also report as allowing overnight parking. AND they answer their phones, first attempt. Sometimes it’s like pulling teeth to reach a human at Walmart, although I will say it’s been better since the pandemic was declared over.

Any thoughts about adding Cracker Barrel locations to your map? 🙂

    Reply

    • I will try to call the Timberville, VA Walmart at some point and see if I get a different response. Not knowing what an RV is kind of shows me that they don’t even know for sure what their own rule is about overnight parking since having an RV or trailer is step one for staying the night! Like you said, a “no” might’ve just been the easiest response but I will see if I can get someone else to give me a solid answer. Regarding adding Cracker Barrel locations to the map, that map is just for Walmart and Sam’s Club locations since both are apart of Walmart Inc. However, we do have a list of all Cracker Barrel locations in the U.S. under the “Cracker Barrel – NEW!” tab and if they allow overnight parking. Now whether or not I turn that into a map of its own is to be determined but I do not have any plans for that at the moment. Thank you for all your help!

One reason is that some Walmarts don’t answer the phone! As part of my pre-trip planning I try to call all the Walmarts anywhere near my overnight stops. Often it is very difficult to impossbile to reach a human on the phone.

This was especialy bad during the pandemic but hasn’t improved measurably since.

    • Thank you for all your valuable information that you shared! I have updated the website in all areas to reflect the information you had. And yeah, I run into that issue all the time when I try to call and confirm whether or not overnight parking is allowed at their stores. Usually someone picks up the phone after 3-5 minutes of non stop ringing and other times the ringing ends and I have to repeat the process until someone answers. It’s a headache for sure, hoping it will get better in the future but for now a clear answer is hard to get from them.

    • This isn’t meant to be a jab and any person. Have a bit of “walk a mile in my shoes” for the managers. Their job isn’t to answer a bunch of phone calls every night about RV permission. They are under a lot of stress from under performing employees, employee sick time, customer complaints, safety and theft. At the same time they could inform their employees of the policy or add a phase in any automated greeting.

      Reply

  • Does anyone maintain a count of Walmarts that allow ONP vs those that don’t? It would be interesting to see a chart of those that allow vs those that don’t over, say, the past 5 or 10 years, to show a clear trend that I’m guessing wouldn’t be very encouraging for the future of Walmart overnight parking.

I’ve tried doing a new search in Google maps, shutting it down and rebooting, shutting the phone down and rebooting, even gone through the Walmart locator website, still no luck. I can’t figure out how to clear that off.

The first sentence in your instructions said to remove the location icons from your map, did you mean the Google maps or the map on the Walmart locator page?
I’m just wondering in the event this happens again.
But I absolutely love the Walmart locator, so handy! I’m sticking it out and hopefully this will work itself out.

I looked it up and lodging in a motor vehicle is prohibited anywhere in the city (even a driveway) other than a designated campground or RV park.

The police said there are serious crime and safety issues taking place and they are being swarmed with van lifers and dockers. They didn’t arrest us, but we were given an ordinance citation and trespassed from the Walmart property.

  • Walmart in Pinellas park FL does not allow overnight camping please fix it, they didn’t even have security say anything they just called the cops and I get a knock on my door and my van is surrounded by 4 cop cars and officers everywhere, they told me you can’t lodge anywhere in the pinellas county unless it’s a campground, and almost threatened to charge me with trespassing

  • Store 1436 Greenacres FL: This store does not allow RV overnight parking. We were warned on Dec 24 2021 by security. Security also told us there was a sign at the entrance (although we did not see it when we arrived). Please update you site accordingly.

  • Framingham, Massachussets: we stayed there overnight on 12/7/21. There was one other RV there, an assortment of cars, and several commercial trucks. The signs say No Overnight Parking, but no one came around to check. My son-in-law says he sees cars and trucks there at night “all the time”, and his company has sometimes left their trucks there. The area to park in is along Rte. 9 at the corner of a small street that I think is called Caldor St. You’ll see others there.

I don’t know what they do on nights when it’s snowing.

  • The Walmart on Amergosa in Victorville, CA is marked with an x on the map. Have not seen any ‘NO OVER NIGHT PARKING’ signs I have a minivan & have parked/slept there quite a few times. There’s usually 2 or 3 big motor homes several pickups & misc sized cars & SUV”s there. I have even slept in a front handicap spot, security trucks go by with flashing lights, I know they’ve seen me. Knock on wood but no one has said anything or even slowed down. It’s a good area. I have always felt safe here. Being a woman alone at 67, that’s always a good thing! You have to be real close for WIFI to connect. 1st or 2nd space up in front.
SWEET DREAMS & HAPPY TRAVELING everyone!

  • I just inquired about overnight parking at a Walmart for the first time and I thought I’d share the information learned and impressions.

Using the map I saw that Store #2814 (Miami area) was listed as permitting overnight parking. When I arrived at 7:30pm (Monday) I saw there were several dozen high-roof vans and a few semi-trucks in the lot. I didn’t see any “no overnight parking” or “no camping” signs.

Realizing that the map listing on this site isn’t anything official from Walmart and that Walmart’s in big cities are less likely to permit overnight parking, I decided to ask for permission.

From everything I have read over the years, you are supposed to ask the “store manager”. As a business person, I’ve always thought that to be a strange concept because THE store manager doesn’t work every hour that the store is open and they are presumably a busy person.

Regardless, with a cart full of items I had just purchased I asked the security person if she knew if the manager was available and that I’d like to ask him or her if it would be okay to park my van in the lot overnight. She said to talk to customer service.

I waited in the customer service line and repeated my spiel, asking if the manager is available.

Not to my surprise at all, they didn’t summon the “store manager”. The customer service rep responded by asking if it was a car, and that a car would probably be okay. I repeated that it is a van. She then asked a co-worker, who may have been the on-duty manager or a customer service supervisor, or maybe just a more experienced co-worker – she was working behind the customer service counter.

The 2nd person said, “No, if you are there too long security will tow your vehicle. Mainly they just have problems with truck though”. She said I could ask the person in the security truck, it’s really up to them.

When I went outside I didn’t see anybody in a security truck, though it was a big lot and still a lot of cars so maybe they were around somewhere.

In any event, it seems like this Walmart falls into a grey area. I’m not advocating to delist this site as green unless that’s customary when this happens. I highly suspect if I had parked there for one night it would have been fine and that’s probably why there were all those high-roof vans there. It seems like the issue is store management is leaving it to the discretion of security rather than having a clear policy about it. Security may not care if it’s 1 night, but if so, the person I talked to wasn’t equipped to make that distinction.

Has anyone else run into this kind of grey area situation?

they mainly have problems with trucks.

  • After Elk Grove it gets nasty, don’t stop at any of these Walmarts – I’m guessing until Fresno or Bakersfield! I bloody accidently crossed the Mexican Border – overnighting in Merced CA, there is security and they have yet to harrass me but I don’t see RVs or big rigs. I gotta get back to the USA border. I think I’m in Ensenada b/c this Walmart on Olive street or what-ev looks like a warehouse. Stock piles of unpacked boxes in the walk ways galore, the womens bathroom smell like Ensenada beach (rotten tuna), for a small parking lot it has two big brother security stands <<>>but, Hebrew!

  • Stockton, California Walmart off Highway 99 doesn’t allow overnight RV Parking, they’re only allowed to park away from the Walmart up until 11pm, when it closes, then they have to go. The security truck driver knocked on my window last night around midnight and told me the Lowes Home Improvement across the street seems to allow overnight parking for RVs. He was saying the managers don’t want to see RV’s at all, day or night.. that’s a bit rough since during the day it’s open for business to the public, RVers or otherwise…

    • I meant to add the Walmart off Highway 99 store number is 1554 on Hammer Lane in Stockton, California.. it doesn’t allow RV overnight parking, only parking is allowed during their open business hours from 6am until 11pm. Apparently Lowes Home Improvement, across the street is ok for RV overnight parking.. so far

  • I’m overnighting at Walmart; Elk Grove on Elk Grove BLVD. Again, no security <<<that is the key! I blend in well w/a small car I saw some larger vehicles on the side of presciption pick up but aways more. I don't think Walmart is restricting overnight stay at any of their locations…I get the feeling it's the towns ordinances. They think they will keep away bad characters not realizing they are the bad characters and new lunatics!

  • Yreka CA was an easy stay but not very nice place. Walmart is struggling their w/lack of good workers so long crazy lines…and, as always – take heed to some of the harassing Walmart employees, targeting travelers and homeless people. The idea is to run off both. Bloody sad commentary in our times. It’s done very nonchalauntly by parking right next to you an identified vehicle w/someone resting in it; the harasser will boom their distasteful music loud and they find another employee to join by yelling at each other across the parking lot – all of this they choose to park next to you out of the entire bloody parking lot Walmart so kindly provides. Redding has security. Anderson is very highly recommended for overnighting, the place is nice. Skip Red Bluff no matter what – no morals, selfish, stupid customers. Utter monsters. Both customers and Walmart employees are rude outside the lot – harassers, and unsafe people. I could swear I was in little mexico but w/white people…WTF!

  • I am in Grants Pass, OR – A town…not as nice as Roseburg…sigh! This Walmart has security so I didn’t risk it. It’s utter nonsense this town has done this b/c the weather is tough, the mountains are like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I’m well traveled. These mountains are worse than a rollercoaster ride; enough to burn you out mentally in one hour, forget about going over them in the snow – even though I’m doing this route on a failing shifting E Solenoid (tranny) – my Toyota has well over 400,000+ miles. I found a 24 hour store across the street to overnight it, saw a cop twice but I’m still good b/c I blend in well.

  • I am overnighting it at Roseburg, OR. The map was X’d out. I looked for security flashing lights, ah…nah – no security! I parked near employees, they can’t really see me, my car is small & it’s only me. There are very few RVs way down at the far end of the building. With a roller coaster like steep hill the elevation is 500 give or take & it’s about to get much worse, like 4,000 feet up the Sysciyou. Had car trouble after Cottage Grove, OR. I stopped by Drain, OR near a Pilot truck stop at an auto repair & long tow shop (Loughhead’s Automotive on Ceder St – they saved me in many ways even financially. Honest sweet & smart people.

  • I am at Cottage Grove, OR Walmart overnighting it, waiting to pass the Sysciyou mountains…so far so good! The key to the Walmart locations you have x’d out is to nonchalauntly ask if they have security or keep an eye out right before dark and you should see them if not the likely of being bothered goes way down. Park next to overnight workers if you have a car, blend in. There are RVs and Trucks parked here too. Wifi is not so hot unless you’re up close.

  • Anyone in Southern California?
Last time we were there the more rural dessert cities allowed parking. They were all nice about it too.
    Perris, California
    Riverside, California
    Hemet, California
Those are the ones we went too and they were very polite and no one bothered us. We parked in the far end of the parking lot under a tree so in the morning it didn’t get too hot before we were ready to leave.
Also in Hemet, California is a quiet rv park. They allowed us to park in our van and set up a tent. We stayed there about a month while I temporarily got a job at Ross Distribution Center which is a factory in Perris, California. Did this to increase our funds.
Also stayed at Perris Lake Campgrounds but you have a maximum stay and must leave for a certain amount of time before you can go back.
It’s nice there and the bathrooms/showers are clean, staff is nice and it’s usually quiet there & reasonably priced.
Hope this helps anyone planning to stay in these areas.

    • At Perris Campgrounds we would go park in the parking lot and take our backpacks like we were hiking and go to the showers in an area not occupied by campers so we could get in and out without being noticed and get a hot shower in. Only had to pay a few dollars to get into the park. But definitely worth it!

  • Went in and got permission and a couple of hours later, security, very aggressively told me to leave, telling me I didn’t get permission, that he’s security, and I’m just saying whatever I want. Luckily, though the store was closed 20 minutes earlier, I immediately called and the assistant manager picked up the phone and after I shakily explained what happened, she went and talked to him.
